    Number of rings???

Hi guys....I'm dumfounded here. Got a Ricoh MP-C4000. On the fax side of things all I'm trying to do is set the number of rings before it answers. Am I THAT dumb??? Why can't I find this? I can go into system settings and facsimile settings but all it has in there is whether the auto answer is on or off. What am I missing?
This office has a computer that also recieves the faxes and I need to up the number of rings on the Ricoh so that the computer answers at 2 rings, and the Ricoh answers at 4. That way if for some reason the computer crashes or freezes up, the Ricoh will still kick in and receive the fax.

    Thanks - Michael

if above doesn't work try fax sp 1104-017 for redial times entered in hexadecimal and fax sp 1104-018 for redial interval minutes also entered in hex -not listed in the manual by the way but works for many ricoh models. got this from ricoh tech support line

Print the parameter settings from fax features in user tools - it's in there somewhere.

Nope. Not in there either. I know the book says "Do not change any bit switches other than those shown on the previous pages". so unless it's a bit switch that's not listed there in the regular user printout...which I did....it's not in there.
    Still stumped

    Try fax sp 2-103-07

Had to set # of rings on an old machine and this was the sp. Not sure if its the same for the mpc 4000 and dont have one handy to test.

...guess it is based on Llama's reply while I was typing.

Well I'd swear up and down on a stack of bibles that I did RTFM, but you got it. That was it. worked beautifully. Tested it and it now answers after 4 rings like I wanted it to. Sheesh what a pain that turned out to be. You'd think Ricoh could've put it right out in front on the same screen as the "auto answer / manual answer" selection instead of burying it down there. In any case, it is fixed. Thanks guys...you're an invaluable resource!
