If you are installing a new machine, it is recommended to activate the Data Overwrite Security and HDD Encryption unit by selecting "Format All Data" from “System Settings” on the operation panel. If you run "Format All Data" after installation, it will erase all stored data.
If all he needs to do is wipe the HDD to delete the addressbook etc then this HDD format is ideal.

Remember a copier is not like a Windows PC not really any sensitive data stored on a copier hdd.

Sorry, bit confused as to what you are suggesting.

Think all I really need is to know what buttons to press on the device to wipe the disk. (How to get into the correct menu, where to look, what to press, etc)

Basically this app allows you to control the copier as if you are stood in front of it.

So for you this allows you to take control of the copier, access service mode & format the HDD.

However accessing service mode is not really allowed by the ‘end user’

That depends on what has been printed to it. If Disk Overwrite Security has not been activated the image data of recent jobs will still be on the HDD and can be accessed by someone who knows how.

I'm not an end user as such, I'm a network administrator. Sorry, but copier admin is beyond my skillset, however it is something I'm required to do. Not trying to do anything illegal or untoward, just trying to wipe the drives on my devices to ensure any history is removed.

I've sent you an email - hoping you can help.

    Re: Format Hard Disk

I've done a bit of Googling and I've seen that I need to enter the System SP mode to gain access to the menu I need to wipe the HDD. The problem is I cannot get to this menu. I have tried:
    • REDACTED
    • also
    • REDACTED

Neither work. Is the problem because the display is running Equitrac? If so, what's the work around?

Yes you’ll need to bypass equitrack first before you can enter service mode.

So to bypass equitrack press: Green, 0, 123,123 0 default Password is 2468.

Can you take down the information that you posted on getting into service mode? It's not public information.
