    Format Hard Disk

Is it possible to format a hard disk on a Ricoh MP C5503 via the Web Imagine Monitor or via accessing the device remotely?

If not, how can I wipe the disk when next onsite?

No you can't format the HDD remotely on the C5503 but the later models you can.

To format the HDD log into service mode & run SP-5832-001

You'd be best off removing the HDD and formatting it with a caddy.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

If what you are wanting to do is erase, wipe, the content of the disk formatting will not do that. Ricoh format utility does not overwrite the entire disk. It just rewrites the directory structure. The C5503 comes with Data Overwrite Security unless it is a CC model. If you are installing a new machine, it is recommended to activate the Data Overwrite Security and HDD Encryption unit by selecting "Format All Data" from “System Settings” on the operation panel. If you run "Format All Data" after installation, it will erase all stored data.

Can I on the C5504? Got them to do too.

Can you explain how I "log into service mode & run SP-5832-001"?

    Thanks

The answer is, no you can not get into service mode.

This is for trained techs only, you need to call a tech to come perform this service for you.

I'd love to, but the £ they want to charge per machine, and the number of devices I need to do this on make it totally unfeasible. That's why I'm here, asking for help.

Remote support app? Sounds exactly what I'm looking for. What do I need to do?
