ricoh mp-c5503 baud rate

Can somebody please help me. I need to reset the baud rate to 9600 but can't find anything in the service or op manual. It's might be bit switch in user tools\fax but I don't want to start changing things before I know what to change. Thanx.

The word baud is an abbreviation of Baudot which was a 5 bit coding method developed be Emile Baudot for early telegraphy transmission. It did not support lower case. Most modern equipment now use the ASCII code set which is an expansion to allow lower case and additional control code. As such most manuals do not use the term baud rate. Instead they use the term modem rate.

Modem speed can be set in either User Tools or Service Program. Documentation on setting in User Tools is weak at best. Use your service manual and scroll to Fax SP BIT SWITCHES - 4 G3 Switches. 1-105-006 is your initial transmission rate and 1-105-007 is the initial receive rate.
