Ricoh C3500a printer - No memory available at heap & stack size

    Hello,

One of my customers got a problem with one of our Ricoh C3500a printers. It seems that there is no memory available for the heat and stack size settings.

Does anyone here knows what the problem can be?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kind regards,

    Jordy

Heap and stack settings are only available when there is a Java card installed.

Thank you for your answer. We sold 5 Ricoh C3500 to them, and all of they report that all of the printers has the same issue. In the past we sold them also Ricoh printers, but there was no problem with the heap and stack settings. From the correspondence it looks as the memory Heap/Stack extension for Java for installing external applications is missing. So it seems it were other settings which came from our reseller. Since I'm not that experienced with printers, could you please tell me how to install a Java card to the C3500 printers?

Unless the customer has Virtual Machine apps that they need to run, JAVA is not needed. It can cause a multitude of startup problems.

    Hello,

What do I actually need to solve my problem? I can not find much information about Ricoh printers and updating the java and firmwares, nor in the user manual. Unfortunately I do not have access to my-ricoh.com. I'm affraid that if we ask the customer to ship one back to us for investigation that the printer will be damaged due to transport considering the printers are in another country.

Why are you worried about the heap/stack settings? do you need to install software solution?

Sorry I'm confused. What exactly is the problem you are having? As mentioned above, you do not need to install a Java card unless you are trying to install Java applications. It is an optional SD card:

BRAND NEW GENUINE Ricoh VM CARD TYPE R (VAT INCLUDED) | eBay

The xx03's, xx04's and machines around that generation had the Java on a flash rom on the controller, hence no need for a card.

I'm a total noob regarding printers. Yes, they do want to install software.

We sold the customer many Ricoh printers before, and there was memory available for the heap and stack settings. I do also not know why they want to use it, they probably use it in combination with a card reader. I'm very apprecieded if somebody can tell me how I can add memory to these settings. They are now threaten to send all the 4 Ricoh printers back to us, and they expect a solution. Unfortunately we do not have a Ricoh contract on these printers, so it's finding a needle in a haystack.

    They need Java cards.

Can you confirm if Ricoh VM CARD TYPE R is the correct Java Card for Ricoh C3500 model?
