yup, they are using ricoh pcl6 universal driver.

That could be your problem. Try using the latest non universal PCL6 or PCL5 driver. Universal drivers were original intended only for use when doing pooled printers of different makes and/or models. Pooled printers have to all be using the same driver. Universal drivers made that possible. Ricoh used to put that information on their download page.
