Sometimes a faulty toner bottle chip can cause SC670-xx

Try shutting down the device then turn back on with all toners removed then install them one by one.

I take it that you do not have a service manual as the manual has a description of the error code and brief trouble guide.

Engine is Down When Machine Starts Up (SC reboot can be performed)

Machine-down was detected after the ENGRDY signal was not asserted.
• CPU reset by watchdog timer
• CPU reset by software
• CPU reset by CPU exception handling
• Slave VODKA reset
• CPU reset due to hardware malfunction/noise
• Slave VODKA reset due to hardware malfunction/noise
The engine board was reset at an unexpected time.
Check if the SC occurs by turning the main power OFF then ON at least 10
times. If the SC occurs again, do the following steps. Check if the SC reoccurs
by cycling the power after each step.
1. Reconnect the BiCU (PCB1) and Controller board (PCB24).
2. Replace the board in the following priority:
1. BiCU (PCB1)
2. PSU (PCB16)
3. Controller board (PCB24)

There is an additional flow chart in the manual that will help you identify which board to replace based on the status LED on the BiCU. The service manual is available for free download on line if you know how to use a proper search engine. That's how I got my copy.

same issue but with ours it only happens through the DF or scanning from the glass. Printing is fine, updated f/W, changed out power supply. no change, im at a loss on what it is

Each time we see the SC670 error it has been caused by a corrupt or soiled toner bottle chip.
