I have never seen unix scripts to recover hdd. I always do the job with one file. Maybe as someone mentioned scripts were required for the first version of recovery file.

I dont think there is a recovery image for the 4583, just put in a working non formatted drive over 160gb, it should boot up, you might have a main board issue or a bad ope panel.

    How does that work.
I checked online and 4583 looks exactly like 4580. The specs say 320 gig hard drive like all other Samsungs.
I have never been able to get a Samsung to work on a drive smaller than 320 gig
    Firmware looks similar to 4580

IT seems to be basically the same machine so the hard drived recovery and firmware process should be the same

    Thank you for your reply.

How do i prepare such a HDD. I tried to put another non-formatted drive in, but it do not boot up. I tried zto use the repair function but the printer chrashes and lead me to the tech mode again.

Shouldn't there be any data on the HDD ?

I have tried with a 500 GB HDD and the same HDD (320) which was in before after i have cleaned it using diskpart.
