    Re: HP Z6 Plotter

Does it stop and scan the width with the carriage? Does it give any kind of error?

Re: HP DesignJet T830 - not detecting paper

I had a lot of trouble getting a printer to enter the extended support menu. You press HOME, BACK, HOME, HOME. But the trick is these touch-sensitive buttons are not illuminated so it's a bit tricky...

    Re: Error 81:01

If somehow the problem with the media advance causes the line sensor error, then it's possible it is the media advance encoder disc and sensor. Those would cause 81:xx errors.

    If the carriage...

    Re: Thoughts, theoretical discussion

It's generally OK to remove ink cartridges, with some old exceptions like the 1050C/5x00/4x00 that pumped air into the ink cartridges and made them virtually impossible to remove without using a lot...

    Re: Error 81:01

That's interesting. I'm not sure the two are related but if it fails testing then it should be replaced. The line sensor is integral to the printer loading media, but I've never seen a paper axis...

    Re: Error 81:01

Not sure what a 83.XX error is but any 81:XX errors have to do with the paper movement/axis. I'd run the media drive and rewinder diagnostic tests. Check for paper stuck in the paper path, and along...

Re: HP DesignJet T830 - not detecting paper

The hardest part of replacing the service station, I find, is the little vacuum tube and the T fitting that snaps into a holder on the service station. Take a real good look at it before taking it...

Re: HP designjet T1300 Void lines

I assume the blank spaces run horizontal, as in the same direction as the carriage. Which means you have a media advance issue. Are they printing in 'fast' or draft mode? This is a common result if...

Re: HP Designjet T7100 paper error occurs

I would suspect the belt then if it's not genuine. It also appears to have a lot of slack in it based on the video. I would get a genuine belt first before throwing other parts at it.

When was the belt replaced last? Is it a belt from HP or China?

Re: HP Designjet T7100 paper error occurs

Alright, thank you for verifying it's not the belt/carriage. I don't think the motor is at fault because in my experience they never fail, but that doesn't mean it's bad. But I would suspect it...

Re: Error 08:11 HP DESIGNGET T2300

I am fairly certain you can not put a used hard drive in another machine and expect it to work. Once the drive is serialized to a printer it can not be put in another printer.

    From the service...

Re: HP Designjet T7100 paper error occurs

Try moving the carriage while holding onto the belt and see if it slips. If it does, then check where it threads through at the carriage.

Make sure you can NOT move the carriage independent of the...

Re: HP Designjet T7100 paper error occurs

Yikes. If I had to guess, the belt is either not installed at the back of the carriage correctly, or the back of the carriage is broken and allowing the belt to slip. Try moving the carriage while...

    Re: Designjet 4500 HD Scanner

If the RAM doesn't do it, the hard drive is probably bad; it's the most common failure item. If you reach that point I can send you the recovery disk ISOs if you need them.

You can replace it with any ram that matches the same speed. I would thoroughly reseat the RAM though, it may just not be making contact well. Take it out and put it back in several times. There's...

The drop detect 'flag' tells the printer not to perform a drop detection, for example when replacing it. You always have to clear the flag before calibrating the drop detector. This is detailed in...

[Error Code] Re: HP DESIGNJET Z5400 error 8:11

What you describe sounds like the carriage can't detect the edge or presence of the paper, which is the job of the line sensor. Fortunately HP still sells them. E1L21-67021

[Error Code] Re: HP DESIGNJET Z5400 error 8:11

This printer and many of its cousins have sensors in the roll supports that tell the printer if the roll is turning. The printer expects the roll to turn when it's feeding the paper, and if it...
