Ok update on the situation, its getting better :)

A guy I know came round and has networked the machine, I can now print and use the functions - it has this installed - Canon iR C4080/C4580...

Little bit on an update - I installed the URF II driver and it is printing but I can not saddle stitch - timer for a coffee and back to the old drawing board!
