Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S Toner Cartridge Empty

Figured this one out finally. One of the cartridge retainer tabs had slight break in it (damn thousandths of an inch). Couldn't see it until pulled the unit completely apart for thorough cleaning. I...

Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S Toner Cartridge Empty

Thanks for the replies. Did 2 different things, not sure which one did it but it's working kind of.
Manually cleared all sc codes, grabbed older toner bottle and added toner to it. I believe the...

Re: Pro c5100s Enable Fiery-No Bit Change

The fiery and gig card look to be communicating, getting the dreaded "check printer power..." Ricoh manual says to disable the nic card and change the external controller setting, which the unit is...

Re: Pro c5100s Enable Fiery-No Bit Change

Thank you. I should have provided that it is the E-42B. I have found the installation manual and followed all the instructions but it still won't allow me to change the bit switches. Nor is it giving...

Re: Pro c5100s Enable Fiery-No Bit Change

I installed the gigabit card from the client. The unit recognized it being installed because had to remove so they could use the nic for printing until I can figure it out. At some point had an efi...

Pro c5100s Enable Fiery-No Bit Change

Can't get 5193 to 1 for EFI and 5895 to 0 for disable. I've changed them and they keep resorting back. I was told this unit had a Fiery but was removed because client had one already.

Re: Ricoh Pro C5100s Service Mode

Was hoping some one can help me out again. Can't get bit switches 5193 and 5895 to change for EFI communication. It's been a long time since I worked on one of these, what am I missing?

Re: Ricoh Pro C5100s Service Mode

The sad part is I'm not sure how good this tech was. I've already replaced a wire harness and a board because they were to lazy to put a few screws back in and it pinched and cut a wire. Pulled the...

  14. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

I never thought to check it, won't make that mistake again, and the other couple of techs I spoke to never thought of it either. In fact they made the same comment when I spoke to them after I found...
  15. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

That's a good question, that's one of the reasons why I never looked at it and figured it was a network connect issue. All I was told is they lost the abilty to use the printer. If some one actually...
  16. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

I don't know if you were able to fix it but I just found out the bit switch for the controller on the one I was working on reset to 0 instead of 1 for the Fiery.
  17. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

AGH, hate to admit this but I'm an idiot. After reinstalling software and it didn't work, went in to SP Mode to switch to internal controller and the bit switch had reset to 0 instead of 1 for Fiery...
  18. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

Thanks for all the great info.
Checked the hard drive today. 15% fragmented and partition drive 28% frsgmented. Which to me makes sense since like I said at one point there was some communication...
  19. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

Haven't been able to get back to this machine, hoping I can get in on Saturday. I'll give that a try, hopefully install software is on the computer.
  20. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

Everything is hooked up correctly. No, can't access the Fiery from C5100S control panel. The thing that keeps haunting me is there was a point I could ping back and forth between the two and even see...

  22. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

I keep thinking it's something simple, like one incorrect setting that I'm missing. And your advice is exactly what I was thinking, try again in the morning. I appreciate all the help.
  23. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

I've tried everything you suggested with no luck. I've been on the phone with some other techs besides your advice and lots of ideas but nothing concrete. I'll remove the back tomorrow to see if...
  24. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

They happen to have a different printer going to a port in the wall so I'm attempting borrowing that cable and port. I've unplugged everything and waiting for a few to plug back in.
  25. Re: Ricoh Pro C5100S and Fiery E42B Connection Issue

That was my original hope that a simple mistake was made and it would be an easy fix. But since at one point there was some connection between the two and there isn't any now makes me think there's...
