Have the filters been changed? If it cannot properly carry the misted toner to the filter it all builds up and makes a mess.
Also you said the drum life is over, swap with a drum within life to see...

Lower the exit tray and remove the upper panel.
There are 2 motors with clock disks. Make sure the disks are firmly attached to the motors and that the 2 exit claws are even.
