Re: Technical Service and Support (Octopus)

Good post, but how about some punctuation? It was painful to read. :p
  2. Re: optics cleaning cloth + platen glass slippery product

I’ve always been a big fan of Rain-X.

It really keeps the junk from sticking to the glass.

Re: mpc6004ex as a network device for scans

Re: mpc6004ex as a network device for scans

I've been "isolated" to Ricoh for many years now, but I have heard that some other manufacturers provide that functionality.

Definitely a bad idea to have the capability; I can seen a ton of...

Re: mpc6004ex as a network device for scans

If this model works the same as previous ones, it requires a file format converter option, which has always been a physical board, although it may be an SD card on newer models.

    The files stored...

Re: ricoh mp c4504 vs c4504ex?

If you have access to the TSSC site, download the Product Support Guide for this model.

    It explains the differences nicely.

The PSG is written for nearly if not all models, and is likely the...

    Re: The Copier Network

    “CopierTalk” was another good one.

I thinks it’s been gone for at least 6-8 years now.

    Re: Speed/processor performance

It’s also worth toggling between Raw (Port 9100) and LPR (Port 515).

LPR normal tends to be faster, but not always.

Re: MP C307 - WI FI

In my case all were before the advent of the SOP platform.

It’s a shame that more than 12 years since the first wireless option that it still sux.

Re: MP C307 - WI FI

Out of the dozen or so of these I’ve installed over the years, precisely 2 of them worked first time, as expected.

The others were all exercises in futility.
  14. Re: Are you still using the Default Admin password on every copier you install?

Last I knew, “CE” stood for “Customer Engineer”.

[Funny] Re: Joke of the Day

I saw on the news last night that the inventor of the original TV remote control was reported as missing.

Good news, though. His wife found him yesterday, alive and well.

    He was stuck between...

    Re: FBI Security Alerts

Lately I’ve been getting the “student loan forgiveness” scam call.

One of the few that actually leaves a voicemail, and not in a thick accent (although obviously automated).

Re: Ricoh MP2555 dual fax line?

If the fax volume is truly that high, perhaps a fax server would be a better solution, rather than trying to cobble together an MFP or standalone fax option.

Re: Ricoh MP2555 dual fax line?

A second line would not help with this problem, at least not on its own.

It would need to be a part of the customer’s phone system (“PBX” is an ancient term) to see that the first line is busy,...

Re: power failure damaging only (Ricoh) MFP's

I have serious doubts about Ricoh equipment handling power anomalies over more recent models.

Years ago it was better, but the 02s and newer seem to have their issues.

    Power filters can only do...

Re: Fiery for Ricoh MP C4504

The C4501 with a Fiery was a total nightmare, and the pair required constant attention.

There were TONS of updates to be installed, and reimaging was a frequent occurrence. (I only had 2 of them...
