503N intermittent scanner line, all stuff cleaned ???

I keep getting call backs on this one 503N for thin black line when scanning at same place around center area all the time.

Now this is intermittent, maybe 1 out of 15 seperate adf feeds will give a line, always same place.

I have done all the routine cleaning and stuff that normally causes lines, cleaned optics-mirrors-scanner/adf glasses-lazer window, etc.

I have also done a full PM, replaced all consumables and kits, no help.

I have spent hours and hours cleaning, what else should I look for on this intermittent line ?

Customer calls back daily, any help appreciated, thanks.

I've only ever had it be the slit glass or the lens. I have had to use a fingernail or razor blade on the slit glass to get stuff that I couldn't really see. Good Luck.

I've had an issue on an MXM623, that was very similar. I found that the Platen unit, or in your case the white sheet on the read plate under the ADF lid had deep enough scratches on it, that the laser could read that faintly through the paper as it passed through the ADF. It's just a thought. Good luck!

you can also check to see if the ADF scan glass dust check is turned off. Ive had this issue where there was a very small scratch on the slit glass that would cause an intermittent line like you are getting and after talking to sharp help desk they pointed me to the soft switch setting and sure enough it was off.

Enter Simulation 55-2 and change scanner control soft-switch 8 bit 1 to value of 0. Change bits 2 and 3 to value of 1.

Exit simulation, power off and on.

Assuming all mirrors and slit glass is totally clean, I have used sim 55-2 bit 8 to 1, as mentioned in the prior post.. also I have used sim 53-1 and changed the value from 10 to 25 to resolve black lines when scanning.
