MX-3501N will not recognize new toner
I have a customer who has an MX-3501N MFP that, when prompting for new black toner, will not recognized the new cartridge. We've tried replacing with a new cartridge... wouldn't recognize it. Tried replacing with an almost full used cartridge... wouldn't recognize it. We've ruled out the CRUM chip in the cartridge as the culprit. It keeps prompting to replace the toner cartridge. No error codes. We've checked for bent or dirty contacts in the cavity, and cleaned out the toner cavity. Any ideas? Bad main controller maybe? Forgive my blatant display of ignorance.

Go to SIM mode and do 25-1. Jot down the numbers.
Then go to SIM 10-1 and activate the toner motor that corresponds to the cart. you are having issue with. Let this toner motor run for 3-5 sec.
Than go back to SIM 25-1 and re run. See if there is a change in value prior to running the toner motor.
If there is not change your toner transport tube is clogged.

I would also check to be sure your DV unit is not broke. I have seen on other models that the mag roller will no longer turn, therefore not pulling toner. In one instance it did throw a code as well. Just my 2 cents.

How long since the K developer has been changed? May simply be worn out developer? Is the toner even trying to add, or are you getting the "replace K toner" as soon as you close the front door?
