    MX M503N ADF Not Feeding

    Good morning campers....

I have a strange one. I'm in the middle of refurbishing a Sharp MX-M503N, and I have an issue with the ADF.

I press the start button, and the ADF pickup roller drops to grab the first page....but it doesn't drop quite far ENOUGH. It's got perhaps an additional 2-3mm more to fall before it even touched the top sheet of paper.

I checked for any obstructions but found none, and the rollers are new ....so I'm sort of stuck on what to check next. Has anyone seen this phenomenon before?

    Thanks in advance.

If it was working before you replaced parts I would go retrace my steps first.

Check the sensors in service mode.Check the jam history for reference... Try to test original count.

I JUST had this happen to me YESTERDAY! It was the weirdest freaking jam. Luckily, I know the solution.

This one way coupling for the feed roller is most likely failing to catch. Take out the coupling, dip it in rubbing alcohol, let it rinse for a good... 2 minutes (This is to clean). Dry it, spray some WD-40 in there and use an air-in-a-can to make sure that oil really gets in those bearings inside so they are nice and free.

    That's it! Good luck!
