    Sharp MX-2630 Error C1-14

    Our workplace has received a new Sharp MX-2630--which didn't come with a set-up guide. Why, Sharp?!

    Because we are on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico, getting a tech out to set it up and check it out is complicated.

    It is showing error C1-14.

    I appreciate any help that you can offer.

    but if you didn't get a CD in the package/paperwork
    this might help

    at lot of manufacturers send setup-user-admin-drivers on cd's.. whole lot cheaper than printing them.

    but I'm sure one of the Sharp Tech's will be along shortly!

    It did come with a printed version of that manual, but it doesn't address the initial set-up. It also doesn't give any help troubleshooting.

    Sounds like you're having a problem with one of the charge On one of the colors

    That's what the boss thinks. I'm inclined to think we missed a piece of tape.

    I would start by visually inspecting the chargers for the color units. You might even try swapping all 4 PCU's around, as they are interchangeable. This way you can eliminate something possibly shorting in the PCU that you haven't seen yet. Make sure the metal tabs on the back of the chargers extend out the back of the PCU, and the contacts in the inside rear of the machine all look kosher.

    Just some quick ideas to start with?

    Agreed..... swap drum units around......

    Does the code remain C1-14 or does it change?

    Swap each color drum unit separately with the Black drum unit. The code will change from C1-14 to C1-10 when the problem drum unit is installed as the black drum. You said that you are on an oil platform. How well is the power outlet grounded? I have had poorly wired outlets cause main charge problems

    I've swapped the drums around, rotating every drum in every slot. Still get that C1-14 code.

    One thing I've noticed: when I swap the drums, every drum is covered in the appropriate color toner for that slot except the black. The black drum has a small stripe, about 3 cm wide.

    Now why I'm getting a color error instead of the monochrome error really confuses me.

    I've also been in touch with the rep. He had me do the SIM 14 and SIM 16 error-clearing codes; I've done that with every swap of the drums, and no change.

    As to the ground, the electrician tells me we are "very well grounded".
