    mx2640 f2-78

I have a sharp mx2640 with an error code of f2-78. colour registration is also out.

I have cleaned the ID sensors and replaced the transfer belt. colour density is very strong.

    following sims tried and failed.

sim 44-02 pcs_F LED ADJ error, R LED ADJ error.
    sim 50-22 ERROR ; SENSOR CALIBRATION F 04

I have tried using the special tool in sim but sim 44-13 does not exist.

    firmware is upto date.

    please advise

Just saying this to cover myself...make sure the ID sensor is completely clean! Next I would try a different (or at least rebuild) primary transfer unit. It may ultimately be an LSU.

Agreed with moose55, try cleaning the sensor again and a different transfer belt first. Next, per service manual, replace the image density (registration) sensor, next service manual is saying to replace PCU PWB.

I assume you stopped the machine and looked at the image on the belt before doing any more troubleshooting to see if the image is screwed up there. I am also assuming you have updated the firmware to v6.0 which is the current level. There was a firmware update to reduce the occurence of F2-XX codes. I have seen bad density sensors on these machines before. I have also seen a bad belt unit cause this which you already replaced. I have also seen machines that were too far out of adjustment cause this issue. When I see these errors I usually set everything in 50-20 to default and try the whole process again. if 50-22 fails I bypass it and complete 44-6 and 26 and then try 50-22 again and this usually fixes it. That being said......make sure to only clean the density sensors with alcohol and a clean white rag. check all of the drums to make sure none of them are hard to turn or make noise when you turn them. I had a tech who was getting this error and it was solely because he didnt powder the damn drums and blades very well.

Yes. In the end it was the pcb at the back of the device. Can’t remember what it was called. Check the ID sensor wiring connector on the board and reseat the connector.

Thanks for that. It wouldn’t calibrate at all after cleaning the ID sensor

After a firmware update, it calibrated fine. If it comes back in, will look at the PCU board

    Thanks

Could also be the transfer belt worn.
