    MX-3640N Random jam & reeboot

The machine as about 80k BW 40k color print / copies
    fax
    inner finisher

It does Random jam from any tray with 2 letter tray and 1 legal .
The worst part of it (besides not doing it while I'm there) is that the jam report from sim 23-02 don’t register any jam at all. If I stuck a paper somewhere & "create" a jam myself, it's on the jam report, but not when the problem occur.

I spoke with sharp & on interesting thing they said is that ; If a "door open" is detected while printing they wont be any jam on the report. (I tested & it's true)

So what I did so far is: -new registration sensor & pre-registration
-both right door (desk) new sensors
    -Image memory clear (sim 66-10)
    -memory test
    -installed a surge protector
    -HDD read/write test
-just installed a new SD card today

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

It will not store a jam code if the customer cycles the machine off/on to clear a jam indication. Also, 3640 was manufactured during "the Great Sensor Disaster" time frame. Meaning... any twin tower type path sensors could be your problem. Good luck!

The machine reboot by itself ,it's not the customer rebooting.
Usually I can test the faulty sensors in simulation & find the faulty path sensors.
The machine reboot when the jam occur so that explain the jam log.

    Thank you

The firmware is on the latest it can be with the tls1.2 support.
They called back yesterday so saying that it as jam but no reboot since the sd card.
    going back later today.

thank you all for the help & sorry for my bad english

Is it a jam and a reboot, or it reboots and there is a jam? Anything on the 23-2 page for errors around that time? Could be a bad print job causing a reset

I refer to the machines as "boxes." Sorry I ovrlooked the meter count on your first post. Copier TechofOmens has a good piont, is it happing from a specific print job? I have had this issue as well from bad print jobs at times on various copiers. Also, it would not hurt to make sure there are no loose connections and everything is seated good on the mfp board, ect.

Hard to say if it reboot first or after the jam.
I never saw the trouble while in front of the machine, only once I was leaving & the said not to leave it just jam.
Went back to the machine to find only one paper in front of registration & pre-registration sensors so I changed them both.
I printed the sim 23-2 to find no jam on that date.
printed the sim 23-2 again today & no jam since 17 of may (the one I caused to test)

I had that in mind but a couple of days back, they told me they tried printing a document about 4 times & it just reboot all the time.
So I asked to print it again while I was there but no luck it printed normally. It was a word file nothing special.
I suspect that more than one person try to print at the same time so it might be someone else file.
But they never had a file they never successfully printed.

I will check the mainboard again next time , unplug/plug back everything.

    Sounds like control board.
