    MX-5070v high pitch noise

I am getting a high pitch squeal only when the customer runs thick paper through the bypass. Standard 20lb runs fine and when I work on it it goes away for awhile then eventually comes back. Any input would be appreciated!!

Have had quite a few Phoenix machines make noise like that. Usually its a grounding tab on the delivery unit. In parts guide section 56 item 31 . You can get to it by removing front cover where motion sensor is.

The exact issue you're having (thick paper) is caused by felt pads in the primary belt unit. I don't know why the slower speed causes it. The felt pads are updated. It gets easier every time you do it, but you can always order the whole unit if you want. It's in bulletin MFP-TB-1879R

replace the belt unit. there are other mods to that unit as well and its easier to get them all at once then make several calls when the other issues do finally come up. work smarter and not harder.

I have also seen where the Transport drive causes issues like this too. I just had a call today, where I am ordering a new drive. I have replaced this drive on several machines in this series. The high pitched noise is different between the drive and the primary belt unit. The one for the drive is more dual toned, meaning it sounds like two different high pitched sounds at different frequencies.

    Good luck!

Clean and powder the felt side seals on the primary transfer belt cleaning unit.
