    SMB3 scanning

We have a client that just updated to MS Server'19 and is unable to scan to folder using SMB3. They have a MXM623, MXM753, and a MX-3640. Current workaround is a PC setup to receive scans and then run a forwarding routine to the new server folder but they don't want to keep another PC running to handle the scans. I have not run into this elsewhere, is there a security issue with '19 or something with SMB3 I need to address?

The copiers you listed use SMB1 and the server used SMB3.

We usually install an FTP utility on the server and change the scans from the copier to FTP scanning.

Install 'SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support' feature and the server will accept SMB1 scans

Careful about enabling SMBV1. There is a known issue and this is why MS is disabling SMBV1 Wanna Cry malware/virus I believe.

I agree go with the FTP route. Being a server, customers IT should be able to just enable the built in FTP in IIS. No additional software to load.

I searched the Sharp service site for firmware and cross searched the libraries for SMB issues being addressed with no bulletins or firmware regarding this. Do you know where SMBv3 support begins in the Sharp product line?

    Re: SMB3 scanning

I believe in general if the machine is over 5 years you maybe out of luck for SMBV3. We have a few Konicaminolta's that generation wise do not seem to be very old until we look at the introduction date. Same with our Ricoh's.

Granted on the Sharp you did not find anything about SMB but a heads up for others. With the "4" series Konicaminolta just upgrading tot he latest "base" firmware or "special" firmware does not give the machine full "SMBV3" capability. You must start at a specific level, change a soft switch or two, load the next required level which is a special firmware, then update to the latest special firmware.

So on any machine when you find the reference for the SMB levels be sure to read the notes for the firmware to see what needs to be done to get it to work properly.

    Re: SMB3 scanning

**This is an older post, so anything newer that the MXxx70 series supports SMB3

The following devices support SMBv1 and SMBv2

    MXC301W
    MX-M266N/316N/356N
    MX-M364N/464N/564N
    MX-M365N/465N/565N
    MX-M654N/754N
    MX-M1055/1205

The following devices support SMBv1, SMBv2 and SMBv3

    MX3050N/3550N/4050N/5050N/6050N
    MX3060N/3560N/4060N
    MX3070N/3570N/4070N/5070N/6070N

All other devices that support scan to network folder support SMBv1 only.

    Re: SMB3 scanning

The 3640 will support SMB 2 with firmware Version 0600A2B0_A

The 623 and 754 will support SMB 2 with firmware Version 0404d3s0_A

That is a close as you are going to get with these machines.
