* Asterisk button logout Sharp Models with the 10 key pad (MX-C301W, MXM453N, etc...)
With Papercut enabled on the machine and the customer needing to dial "*9" to get an outside line while faxing.
Is there any way in service modes or the WebPage to make that "*" button not a logout button. Or a function key they can hold down then press * and it won't log them out? Unfortunately, every time they go to fax and start to dial *9 and the fax number the * button logs them out of Papercut. I have spoken to the client to see if they can remove the "*9" to get an outside line and we can't. I have talked to them about entering in the fax numbers to the address book. They fax to a number once and probably will never fax to it again. There are too many different numbers coming in they fax to, to utilize the address book except for a few of the numbers they fax frequently.
Thanks in advance.
Eric

Not that I now of. Would using PC-Fax drivers on their computer be an option? If they're just printing invoices or whatever and then faxing them it'd save them a step. Could also move them to scan to email.
Or you could look into getting them a physical keyboard upgrade such as the MX-KBX2 for the MXM453 (requires the 8.5" screen version), but customer might not like the expense for an older machine like those.

Maybe you can input a Program setting? I haven't done that for faxing, but you may be able to. The machines are capable of storing many Programs that retain specified settings. Just a thought.

This has been fixed. It will take the user some extra steps to send a fax on these machines.
Create an address book entry of *9, we called ours "Outside Line"
User logs into machine via Papercut
Selects fax mode
Chooses address book
Selects the address book entry of "Outside line"
This places the *9 in the line at the top of the screen.
Press "Pause" to put in a "-" after the *9, this will make sure that it doesn't go to a "New" or "Next" destination
enter the area code and fax number, and press send.
It is a few extra steps for the user to fax out now as compared to not having Papercut on the machine. But the users were fine with the change.
Thanks,
Eric
