Here is an update on my issue with the MX-2616N and the Mac OS. I logged into the machines web page a disabled the SNMPD and SMNP-Trap and it has been working OK for 2 days now. Time will tell.

I also found out that they recently updated their switch but customer could not remember if the problem was before or after the switch was replaced. If the issue was caused be the switch does anyone have an idea what on the switch could have caused this phenomenon?

Sometimes switches are programmed to block SNMP traffic.

Fairly common, actually.
