    Mac Printing issue - MX-3071

    Hi all,

We have one Mac user who is having issues printing to an MX-3071. She continuously gets "Toner Low" messages and will not print. The toner is not low and all the other Mac users are able to print without issue.

User Control is enabled, which is why we need to use the Sharp driver and can't just use a generic driver for B&W printing.

We have re-installed the print driver and the printer to no effect. We have not yet tried re-setting the printing system on her Mac.

Anyone else run into this problem?

If you are not using SNMP on the copier for anything, disable it.

Configuring Macs for printing can be a real pain in the neck... (Or lower). The way I'VE always done it to avoid any issues is....

1: Run the Driver installer package FIRST!
2: Add the printer through Apple>System Prefs
3: Configure as follows.... IP Protocol, Line Printer Daemon (name the queue lower case "LP" -no quotes)
4: Give the printer a name.
5: Select Software, then choose the correct model.
6: Make sure all accessories are active.

Once that's done, I always go into CUPS to configure everything, including default paper size (it usually defaults to A4), color/b&w, and single sided/duplex.

    ...happy installing!

I install Mac drivers infrequently, so it is always a challenge for me when I have to do so.

    How do you enter CUPS?

First make sure CUPS is enabled

    Open Terminal
    type in: cupsctl webinterface=yes
    close terminal

    Open browser and type: localhost:631
    now you are in CUPS

BTW...The ONLY browser that will work is Safari.

Chrome, Firefox, and others will not.

I've never had an issue entering CUPS with any browser...but since Safari is default I would recommend that.
