    phoenix/griffin mfps mx-3050, 3070, 3550, 3570, 4050, 4070, 5050, 5070, 6050...

So this is a little survey...

I believe sharp tech support is lying to me...

On almost every one of these models i get consistent wrap jams on the pressure roller when duplexing.

Is anyone else having this issue?

sharp tells me it is not an issue they are having, but i have seen it on at least 15 out of 20 mfps...

they also tell me that the fix is to replace the fusing belt and rollers or the fusing unit...

these parts are not even lasting 1/10th of their life!

    any suggestions?

    HELP!!!

The fusers are junk. Replaced often for quality and noise issues but we've never had a wrapping issue. You live in California I can imagine your paper conditions are much different than mine, though.

This is definitely not a regular issue.
What are your firmware levels on these machines?
Are your fuser units refurbished or brand new?
Are you fitting all modification parts for these fuser units?
Are you using genuine toner? (sorry, have to ask).

I read the key part of your post is it happens when duplexing. This would indicate your lead edge margin might be far too small. On the second pass through the fuser, image close to the lead edge is sticking to the lower fuser roller and subsequently wrapping. Check your lead edge margin values and maybe reset as-per the service manual.

I had one do the same thing. I would not duplex a color print or copy without jamming in the fuser. Had been a ongoing problem. Belt unit and everything up to date. Tech support told me to replace the fuser and raise the temp from the factory temp. I dont have the call sheet in front of me so I cant tell you what heat setting was,but it has been a couple months now without a call. It had been once or twice a week for a while.

They told you to raise the heat? They told us to try lowering the heat and to try increasing the lead edge on the print

The fusing units are brand new, as are the mfps. Sharp has also suggested that we increase the lead edge. This had had no effect. The toners are genuine. All tech tips and modifications are done to these machines. It is definitely due to the toner sticking to the pressure roller. It seems that sharp should have included a cleaning web on this fuser or at least some pawls for that roller.

I have not seen this as a problem on these machines.

Are these machines all at one account? Common paper?

On single side are you seeing excessive curl?

If yes to curl.....try 43-1 scroll to fuser condition setting.....default is 0, change to 1....test

They are all different accounts. No paper curl. Different brands of multipurpose plain paper.

I looked on my call sheet and unfortunantly I did not write down on the sheet what I changed the heat settings to, but they definantly told me to make it hotter and that was written on the sheet. Those fusers dont take long to look trashed so I didnt think hotter sounded right but it seems to be working. That and the new, socalled updated fuser I put in.

Don't you get problems with hot offset?

There is a bulletin for it on those models...
