Many may know this...but I did not and struggled for a while to get working, couldn't find correct info. MX-C402SC and similar.
NetBEUI enabled under Protocol Settings (may be NETBIOS on later models)
Enable NBT/WINS in Port Control under Security Settings
Use name listed in Device Name (SCFxxxxx or similar) for port, under Network Settings
Feel free to critique, correct or add to this. Very helpful for DHCP environments.

It's easy and fast to get machine hostname if IP assigned from DHCP (and NetBIOS enabled). Just ping IP with -a option.
Example:
C:\Users\user>ping -a 172.22.2.26
Pinging KM62D539 [172.22.2.26] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 172.22.2.26: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
I'm not sure I am following you. Are you talking about getting the PC to recognize the mfp by hostname instead of IP?
Hostname printing is an option but rarely used.
Recommend method is by ipadress raw 9100.
IP method is obviously preferred and endorsed by Sharp as default install method.
Under an IT managed network this is fine, but we install on many unmanaged small networks, where routers may get swapped causing change of IP addresses and nobody to provide DHCP reservations, resulting in service calls and visits to repair loss of printing.
Hostname method should eliminate this potential issue ? Assuming most routers handle this by default.
WSD is unreliable and most often disabled upon install as well.
