Sharp MX-4070 admin password

Hello,

I am trying to fix an issue of could not access the accounting server.

I want to log in as admin to fix this setting but that password is lost.

I checked the board for dip-switches but did not see any.

I reset the remote access password, but when I look for it on the network I can't find it. It may be configured for static IP and I don't know if there is a way in Sims to change it to dhcp without having admin password.

In order to change the admin password on the copier you will need to open a service call with sharp. There is a post from a couple of years ago with the procedure, somewhat involved but have done this with one of our machines and it worked great. You will need the admin password to change the IP settings and most other settings as well.

No you don’t
All you need is same model of machine copy the M-Sata card
Format the M-sata in the machine you don’t know the password for
and copy file over to the M-sata from working machine with
HDD Raw Copy

I had a copies of new machines M-sata boards on laptop

oh wow coping the msata works? lol, I will remember that in the future as well. Calling sharp averages 2-3 days for them to get you a reset code for the admin password which sucks if your client is waiting. The msata trick is much faster. Great Tip

Two facts everyone must know about Sharp Tech Support-

1. They take vacation, same as you.
2. The guy that does the password resets, or EEPROM's does not have a back-up

So, say you have a MX-6071 that the customer decided to change the password on you just out of spite, the hotline is down, and you e-mail your request for admin password reset in. You MUST contact your DSS to get the code back that you need. Just want to let everyone know, so you can avoid as many headaches as possible.

Hello everyone.

I ordered an msata adapter to come so I can try the cloning method.
I don't have another exact model though. I guess I have to buy another MX-4070 to get the card pre programmed.

You can buy the msata card already with the basic programming required from sharp. You don't have to buy an entire copier.

Just copy the msata card you receive from Sharp for future use.

You can make a clone from another machine. Say a MX 5141 (model doesn't matter) of just the use information. Go into the service page and send it to the copier. This will reset the admin password.
