You have a choice in networks settings to set it up wired only or wireless.
Yes I realize this. I should have been more clear....
When I set machine as wired.....
- DHCP...never pulls an address. (Yes I know the wall jack is good)
- Static.... never get a link light, nor can I ping machine.
When I switch to wireless everything works fine. All indications are that it is the physical connection on the MFP board.
That's why I was asking if there is a way to disable wired connect via Softswitch. I'm 99% sure that there is nothing in Settings as I've been through all about 1,000 times.
Why not stick with wireless....customer is a heavy scan user and at times this causes an issue.
Thank you.
Reset the machine to factory settings, this should reset any soft switches that may have been adjusted.
Thanks Spanky....that has not occured to me.
Will give that a try before I bite the $600 bullet.
Thanks
Are they using wifi via their router (infrastructure mode) OR wifi direct by logging into the machines wifi ?
Remove all passwords and verify issue persists.
You mentioned DHCP will not work; what about a static ip, does that get it on the network?
I have had a few wifi cards cause issues and if the customer was not using wifi, simply unplug the card under the op panel.
SIM 67-17 will dump all printer memory AND wipe the NIC settings.
If you are going to factory default in admin mode, this will not reset soft switches.
Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!
USING wifi via their router (infrastructure mode)
what about a static ip, does that get it on the network? NO GO....static IP does not work when trying to use wired network
Will try Printer Mem Clear as well as unplugging wireless card
Thanks
If you connect an ethernet cable to your laptop and the copier you can create static settings between the two devices and reach the web interface of the machine. You would generally give the 2 machines the same subnet (ex. 255.255.255.0) and the same gateway (ex. 192.168.1.1) and then both different IP addresses (ex 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3). You can even print with this setup if you wanted to verify that the nic was properly transmitting print data to the controller.
If this works there is usually nothing wrong with the Nic card. I've used this test numerous times to show IT personnel that something on the network or the port is causing the issue.
