    Sharp MX-C402SC Hard Drive

I recently acquired a MX-C402SC and I am not sure how old the machine is. Since this machine has a HDD installed, I want to make sure I have a backup of it when it fails. I am way more computer savvy compared to copier savvy. So I should be able to do a bit-by-bit copy of the drive to a new one without issue. Does this machine require software loaded when a new blank drive is installed? I believe the answer is yes, which is why I am considering just cloning the existing drive. If it doesn't require software from Sharp to setup that is even better. Speaking of new drives, any reason besides cost not to put an SSD in it? There is currently an 80G drive installed now and a 120G SSD is less than $30. Thanks for the help!

All Sharps S/N will have the date of manufacture; first digit (left most significant) is the year built, last digit (right most significant) is the month it was built.

My SN starts with 19 and the last two digits are 00. I thought sharp stopped making these in 2018.

The 1 indicates built in 2011; the 0 is either the first or tenth month (never could figure that out).

I think I figured that out. The serial number on the machine vs the web interface is slightly different. The machine doesn't have the two zeros on the right. The last digit is 8. So Aug 2011. What is the easiest way to check the FW version? In SIM 22-05 perhaps?

SIM 22-6 will give a nice printout of FW, options, supply counts, jams and errors.
