    Sharp MX-B402

    Hi all,
First time seeing this model. Originally had a L4-12 error, ITB was bound up, replaced ITB and waste toner container. Machine then came up with replenishing toner and after a few went into an F2-64 error. Freed up toner gears, verified gears were rotating which means motor is turning. When I pulled out the drum unit, the top of the unit was covered in toner, freed up drum waste toner auger. closed covers and again replenishing toner. Pulled drum out again and covered in toner again. Ideas? toner sensor?
    TIA

You mention the top of the drum unit is covered in toner. Is the drum turning? Is everything turning properly? Drum unit, dev. unit, transfer belt? Being you have had backed up toner, I would vacuum out all the toner augers, replace developer and possibly the drum unit. Is the developer past life, possibly causing dusting? Is the toner generic? If so, not a good idea, it will cause issues on this model big time with some of the issues you have described, toner sensor errors, backed up toner, etc.

Drum is turning as is auger, DV unit turning. ITB is new, as is waste toner container. Toner is OEM. Meter is 174k, new customer so not sure of past history of machine. They stated the machine was working fine until the L4-12 showed up due to bound up ITB.

Is the drum covered with toner like a sky shot?

If so the main charge may be shorting out, replace the drum unit and the developer unit.

Would you all suggest I replace the DV unit, or just the DV?

Developer is cheap enough, I would try that first and same with the drum unit, just replace both at the same time and go from there.

Also, when you have the developing unit out, see if you can remove the toner sensor on the bottom to clean it before you add in the new developer. I am not sure on these series but most Sharp developing units you can pull out the sensor and clean it before installing new developer.

Also, remove the toner pipe going from the toner cartridge to the developing unit and vacuum in out good.
