MX-4071

I have a customer that I think will be upgrading a MX-4141N to the MX-4071 and wonder if this model has been reliable and is it basically the same just newer than the MX-4141. I have been doing the service for the last 4 years on the Sharp only because they wanted me to since I have the other copiers under service.

the 4141 is a workhorse machine and we still have several out in the field. the 4071 looks solid and we have a few out in the field now, but no long term results in yet for us. the 4071 is totally re engineered and different, the layout it the same but the parts are totally different.

What about drum, developer and developer assly. yields? Are they expensive?

DV is supposed to go 1M pages. The color set of DV is about $120.00 more than the 4141N color DV.

So drums, developer and dv units last longer but they must cost cost more?

Supplies last a lot longer than the 4141. The machine also does a way better job of running on worn drums, charge units, transfer belts than the 4141. There is a lot better self correcting and self calibration in the machine and it generates better quality with those worn components. There is no web on the fusing unit. Transfer belts and cleaning blades don't wear out as often either. No amount of powder could save some 4141's from putting marks on transfer belt units before they reached yield I haven't really seen any transfer belt issues on the 4070/71 series.
