    Sharp MX-5001N firmware needed.

I am new to the forums and would appreciate any help with getting firmware for the sharp MX-5001N copier. I purchased this machine from a government auction and the hard drive was removed. I am very computer savy so thought not a big deal I would just put a new drive in. That part was easy but sadly after the machine finished formatting the drive it came up with a incorrect firmware error. I now need to get the firmware but was told by sharp that they couldn't provide it. I contacted the company that originally sold and serviced the machines and I am outside their service area. I am hoping a kind tech on the forums can assist me with this matter.

If there is a way to install a new drive without a new firmware would be ideal but the service manual doesn't mention this issue about firmware with a new drive.

Really appreciate any assistance in the matter.

If it came from a government agency...it may have a security kit installed. MX-FR11U

Which means a special firmware. Even if the firmware works the ADMIN password may have been changed and I don't believe there is any recovery.

Was it a blank hard drive? If not, you need write 0s to it.

I wiped the partition tables so the MFP thought it was a new drive. I got past the formatting part and then it gave the firmware error.

    The error is:
    Version Check
    IcuM ROM UNUSUAL

How can I determine if it is equiped with the MX-FR11U?

Want to thank everyone for their assistance with this.
