Hey Sharp guys, has anyone had the underside of the scan glass get fogged ( on a MX-B402)? I just a week ago disassembled (to get to) and cleaned the underside of the glass. It is starting again. Any ideas why it might be happening, what seems to be so frequent, or at all for that matter. Machine is installed in a nice clean office, so I don't believe it has anything to do with the environment.

We have quite a few of these machines still out and I agree that the glass is difficult to get off for cleaning. I have two thoughts, one that the paper has a lot of moisture and it is steaming from the fuser and the other thought is a chemical they are using to clean the machine or the environment around the machine or office due to covid.
Very common on these boxes. Simply dis-assemble the entire top half of the machine, remove the ADF and scanner, remove the platen and clean.

I cringe every time I walk in and see that haze.
I also believe the fuser causes this as the fan is on the rear frame, not above the fuser.

clean glass apply rainX .. worked for me years ago on a Ricoh is a chemical environment
reduces build up
I have done this on the slit glasses but never the underside of a platen. In these boxes, I fear the RainX would pool the moisture into droplets and then drip onto the lower scanner components

i never had that happen.
just remembered I used this trick on a copier just between the freezer and fridge units at the Winn Dixie distribution center when it was in Raleigh.

Thanks, for responding and confirming it is a common issue on these machines.
On Kyocera KM2050 family machines the underside of the slit glass becomes hazed with ozone, directly over the fuser. On those machines, we would use self-adhesive mylars to seal up the openings into the bottom of the scanner optics. Additionally, I would use self adhesive foam seals on the left side covers, because the covers seemed to channel the air directly onto the slit glass. Once the scanner was sealed up it took longer for the glass to haze.
I don't know if you can use that information, but it might be a help to you. =^..^=

2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
