MX-3640N Not able to scan large files to email or USB

Hello, I have a customer that has an issue while scanning to email and USB. She scans a lot and when she does a job build of about 700-1000 pages but gets a timeout error/sending date suspended at about the 50th page. At first we thought it could be a network problem since she can't scan to email but the same problem happens when trying to scan to a USB. Any help will be appreciate it.

    Thanks !

Go into the system settings/scan settings.

You can set the maximum size for email and other scans there.

Be sure it is not set to a lower number than needed based on any limitations in the customers email.

Scanning to email will also be limited to that servers attachment limit. For example, Gmail is 25mb which is usually 50 -75 pages depending on what you're scanning.
If size is the issue, set up SMB scanning, make customer happy, time for beer.

Re: MX-3640N Not able to scan large files to email or USB

When using scan to email, you'll be limited by the attachment size. I guarantee that you'll never attach 1000pages of any resolution/any settings to an email. Most email providers allow ~20MB maximum attachment size, but it could be as little as 5MB depending on the provider. And you ask: "What settings affect file size?" ALL scan settings affect file size. To get the most pages within that 20MB limitation, you'll want the lowest resolution 100x200 or 200x200dpi, B&W scanning, Text original type.

To get larger file sizes, you'll need to set up scan to SMB or scan to FTP. You won't be limited for size, but those larger files will take some time to send, and may tie up machine resources, not allowing other functions to work at the same time.

These comments apply to any MFP in general. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.

    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Hey guys scan to email limitations are known story but he also stated scan to USB thumb has also failed similarly.
I think spanky may hit something with initial scan setup settings although I'm not familiar with Sharps.

Edit: large email attachments may be divided into several email attachments which size is specified by bynary division on Konicas.

XM SendSecure can easily handle large file sizes of any type up to 5 TB and send them like an email attachment.

Hello all, the issue was finally fixed by setting it to scan to hardrive. Also, we change the adf motor which was causing a delay issue. As for the USB we tried a different one and started working.
    Thank You all

Make sure they are saving / backing up those files if scanning to HDD.
A 3640 is no "spring chicken" and if the HDD crashes, they will lose all their documents; much sadness will occur...

Right copier storage should be used only as temporarily measure. No matter how old nor HDD/SSD it's just not best practice.
