    MX7081 noise

I have 2 7081's at the same account.

Both have been installed within the last 3 weeks.

Customer says the machines (both) will make a "moaning" noise, but only when sitting idle.

During copy/print cycle noise is not happening. Only happens when machine sits idle. I have tried SIM's to activate all fans individually and together.... no noise

Have done the same with motors.

    Any thoughts and/or suggestions welcome

** when this noise occurs, machine is idle and goes into an idle run state. Meaning its calibration or something due to temp and/or humidity change. I'm not sure what combination of items are rotating during this internal calibration

I have heard this complaint on Sharps and it is usually the pressure release system of the fuser. When the cam turns it makes an awful "moaning" or "groaning" noise. You can test this cam via SIM and verify the noise is the same the customer is hearing.

Or tell them both machine have the "Orgy" option installed....

Agree. I have seen(heard) this on Konica Minolta machines fusers.
In any case noise record will be in great help here.

    Re: MX7081 noise

I have had this groan on alot of the sharp models and just about always the blade that sits on the fuser heat web, most paper any more is dusty and
it don't take many prints to get a buildup on it and make the groan at startup. I have been stretching the 2 small springs on the blade so they don't
rub on the heat web so hard. That has cut down on the amount of noise calls I get. Hope this helps. Dan

    Re: MX7081 noise

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I have been experiencing this with a new client also.

I can't listen to the clip as its expired but I have replaced 2 brand new fusers out of the box which also give the same outcome.

I know its coming from the fusers as I can emulate the noise when turning the green jam removal dial while the fuser is on the bench.

When I remove the cleaning web unit from the fuser, the noise goes.

I think I have found the issue which is dry web rollers. When I squeeze them web felt there is no oil coming out of them on my finger tips.

I did lubricate one web felt and placed it back together and the noise seems to have disappeared.

My feeling is that either the factory are not lubricating the web enough or they are simply drying out while sitting in storage.

Just wondering what caused the issue above and can I hear the clip if possible please?

    Thanks

    Re: MX7081 noise

Sorry I do not have the audio clip any longer.

Machine history indicates last tech there for the noise "lubed fuser pressure release" cams.

That was the last we heard about the noise.
