    SHARP V4 Driver

    Driver Downloads - Find drivers - | Sharp Digital MFPs / Printers

    Has anyone tested this V4 driver?

    This to remedy the Microsoft Printing Nightmare update.

    Printing works fine, the problem is that serveral .TMP files are beeing created in the spool folder for every print.

    So every print makes a .SHD and a .SPL file + 6 or 7 .TMP files.

    Some of these files are 0kB and get deleted after 1 or 2 minutes.

    The rest does not get deleted...so fills up the folder.

    I've tried the Lexmark V4 driver, and this driver does not do that...

    Any solutions? (exept for a script that deletes the files periodically)

    I have had 0 luck with the V4 driver from any manufacturer. They all tell me that the model is unsupported, regardless of how new or old the model is or what Operating System I'm trying to install it on

    V4 == junk

    Use proper driver from the manufacturer.

    The Type4 driver isn't the remedy for Print Nightmare. Several Microsoft Updates must be removed, particularly September/October/November 2021. Plenty of info on this online.
    Make sure the 'Keep Printed Documents' check box is not ticked within Properties - Advanced Tab. This will cause SHD and SPL files to be retained so the job can be resubmitted if there is an interruption.
    If that is not ticked, it would be suggested to remove & reinstall the drivers. Better yet, install the actual manufacturer release WHQL certified driver. You might also be getting temp files retained in the spool folder if the document requires PS drivers. Type4 is PCL.
    Type 4 drivers were introduced by Microsoft with Windows Server 2012, and were intended to replace the default drivers bundled with Windows OS. There are many limitations on Type4 compared to the manufacturers Type3 driver, which is the recommended driver. Type4 was primarily designed to make sharing easier and more efficient by eliminating the need to manage different drivers across different processor architectures, eg, to make the life of poor IT Managers much easier.

    Removing updates who resolve a major vunerability on a server is maybe not the best idea...

    There is a workaround with adjusting the GPO and then you can use the type3.

    The question was about the TMP files...
