    MX5070 U5-20

Have a MX5070 with a U5-20 error, DF trouble, was told its probably paperclips on the board etc, couldnt clear it so have gone back with a new board, fit the board and get a U6-11 which seems not even to be in the manual? loaded new firmware still no good, refitted old board and get the U5-20 code back again. Not sure what to do next now?

You sure it's U6? After replacing the DSPF PWB it's very common to get an E6-11 code, for shading, where you have to use a calibration chart(which can be hand made, though they want you to buy it, inexpensive), and it should be good.

However, I have had the issue where the new board isn't compatible with the CCD, so the CCD also needs replaced. It all turns on and tries to calibrate, but fails every freakin' time. Careful what you order, there's a bunch of options that are all effectively active because certain ages of machine need them.

Good luck, it's not fun. Not terrible to replace the items in it, but not a good time

    My history:

    MX-3070N
U5-20 Error: Removed foreign media in ADF assy, 250 page test... no jams!

    MX-3070N
U5-20 Error: Paper stuck inside ADF Assy, teardown, removed media, tested SPFM motor... ok!

Looks like it's related to the SPFM motor. Take the ADF apart and take a look. Don't be afraid, these ADF assy's are easy to take apart, something is prohibiting the SPFM motor from moving freely.
    Good luck!
