    Sharp MX-550N Questions ?

Does anyone know about how old this unit is in years ?

Also what do you think about the price of this copier ?

    Sharp MX-550N 550-N Copier G3 Fax Print Scan w/Finisher - eBay (item 250803478623 end time May-11-11 10:40:19 PDT)

I need a B&W in the 50 page range and came across this one.

Thanks for any input you can give me !

Great machine! Servicing one with over 8 million on it and still going strong. Located at a print shop and they use it for all of their short press runs. Age is determined by serial number. First digit year, last digit month with x, y, z being oct., nov., dec.

Copier released in May 2008 and the mileage is only about 250 thousand. Few believe that in 3 years on such a machine made so few copies. Counter could be warped. Just check will the real picture. Refer to a specialist for examination and accurate diagnosis of the copier

The copier you show was manufatured in Oct 2008 going by the serial number. I agree with Vlad that only having 200 - 300K seems kind of low. Since they listed all of the items it has everything that you can get with this unit except the LCT but they should also be able to give you an exact copy count by printing out sim22-6. We have quite a few of these machine and like them very much. Actually it does show an exact page count about half way down the page.

          Good luck.

Kind of late now but if that machine has 250k copies it's going to need a PM unless it's already had it which i doubt it has.

Drum and DV on the 55ppm is 250k, 62-70ppm is 300k

I bid and won it for 2800.00 So with shipping it will be 3350.00 Buying on ebay is allway a chance buy at this price it sounds ok to me.

I will put it on my American Express so If I need to file a case I can do that if I need to.

What will the cost of this PM run with Drum and the DV unit about ?

Thanks For your help Sir !

LCT= Large Capacity Tray, it sits on the right hand side of the machine.

I didn't see any thing in the listing about hole punch but that finisher is capable of stapling "corner staple or booklet". It did not look like a saddle stiching finisher however.

When you get the machine you can check whats installed by checking sim 22-10

                  P, *, C, * will get you into service mode. 22 start(main code), 10, start(sub code).

Sim 22-1 will tell you the counts on drum, dv, fuser etc. 22-9 will tell you the total count on tray rollers.

Also check sim 20-1 and see if the Maintaince counters are turned off.

Using m-kits the book says to use at PM time + labor you might be close to $1000.00 (just a rough guess) to get it PM'ed if it needs it.

Probably not that bad if the counter is really at 250k and the machine works well. Thats like a $15k machine new.

Do you know where I can get a service manual for this copier ?

Also is the hole punch unit still available for this unit to buy ?

Oh im sure Paul will be lurking around to sell you a manual. As far as i know the hole punch is still the same in the new version of the machine so yes you should be able to purchase it. It ain't cheap though.

Is there a setting for this ?

                          Thanks Scott

You should start your own post vs opening using one from 2011.

Please hire a tech as i don't think you have a clue of what you are doing and will likely do more harm than good.

H4 is a fuser code. You have taken a picture of the drum frame.
