    Re: Admin Password reset

What model of machine are you looking to reset the password for?

For MX3501N an like models the admin initialization is SIM 24-30

    Hope this helps.

For future posts full information does help get a more accurate and prompt response. I know as I have missed some information and then I get a bunch of questions to clarify when I need to get help on the machine and have to give more information before I can help my customers.

    Re: Admin Password reset

    Oh...one of those....well...

after finding out all sorts of new things about the machine (searching service manuals and such) I decided to searcht eh Operations manual. I found something...under trouble shooting and the last listed item labeled you've forgot the administor password....and that was useless (thanks Sharp)...tells you to go to the quick start guide which commences to tell you how to set up your password and gives you a handy little sheet to write down your passwords.

They make sure to note *Please take care not to forget newly set administrator passwords*

That is where my path died....however I learned a lot about these new machines which I needed to do anyways.

    So thanks for the question...

Hopefully there is someone smarter that I out there (which would be hard to beleive...jk...see i spelled believe wrong).

If anyone knows, we'd like to!

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Admin Password reset

I just found a Tech Bulletin about this.

Sharp Tech tip 1496. basically says you can not reset the admin password due to the need for increased security...Who ever sold/demo'd the machine is responsible for making sure the user does understands the necessity of retaining the password.

So you are out of luck....not sure if there is anyway around it...try checking with Sharp directly.

there is a small dipswitch on the mfp board which allows the password to be reset. i haven't used it myself but that is the item that does the business.

    Re: Admin Password reset

I remember the dip switches from class. Upper left hand corner if you are facing the board. From what I remember, you flip the switch, reboot, and password is reset. I have looked in the service manual but found nothing pertaining to this reset. Way to go Sharp!!!
