    bizhub 454e and 368 with AU-205H

I have a new customer with several BH C454e AND BH C368 ( and a few 4050's too but im not even thinking about them yet} They all have AU-205H proximity card s]authentication units on them. They want to authenticate in an AD environment so that they can a) control access and b) more importantly, provide scan-to-me function. So far I can authenticate to the MFP with the card so I know the card and reader work. I can authenticate with the keyboard to the AD so I know the AD works but I cannot authenticate the card to the AD. I either get an error 32 "cannot find search route" or 85 "time out".

Any one with experience with these things? I've spent over 2 days on it now

attached are the instructions I was given and Ive followed them pretty much to the letter, and I still cant get it working.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Lance

I have a campus full of these (and the older AU-202H on some C452's). We also have Pagescope Enterprise Suite as the 'connector' between the AD and the card reader.

It was my understanding that the card reader won't communicate solely with an AD without another program (PSES, PaperCut) doing the leg work. I could be mistaken on that, but every company we've sold these to either has PSES or PaperCut handling the transfer. I could very well be mistaken, but we've been back and forth with KMBS about this a couple of times.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but that is where not of our research led us.

They were originally going to go with PSES but the Authentication Manager, along with most of the other plugins, have been discontinued. Papercut was overkill and too much money.

Not sure what you mean by discontinued. PSES and all of its plugins are still available, with a new version just released in January.

KMBS has announced the end of sales and updates coming up this year. Existing products will still work, and new machines may get drivers, but there will be no further updates to PSES itself.

Hm. I hadn't heard that. Checking with my solutions specialist, but I get the feeling they're slowly doing away with the homegrown Pagescope solutions in favor of vendor solutions.

    Re: bizhub 454e and 368 with AU-205H

The Au-205H works with 3 different card types. It requires a specific driver, but once turned on (Billing mode, and some type of AD authentication from the MFP level or 3rd party software) you can re program it for any of the different types through Admin mode. If you can authenticate from the control panel, then AD is configured correctly and you should be able to use ID badges once the cards are registered. KM's one stop product device drivers are matched to a function version. You should verify your MFP firmware matches the LDD you are trying to use. Billing mode settings for the AU-205H must be Authentication Device 2/Card. We have tons of these working on just about every MFP from the 4070 through the new 8 series with almost no issues. The readers seam to be pretty reliable. Emujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

At first I thought that too but I think they just changed the product all together on how it is licensed. So they old product numbers are discontinued and they sell it differently now.

Not to hijack the thread, but are you sure? KMBS has even told us that PaperCut is their suggested product for new installs in place of PSES.

No, I'm not sure. I received a service communication a while back that made me think at first that it was being canned but it then mentioned that it just changed it licensing model. Out of my own curiosity I searched my email but maybe I deleted it and I searched bulletins but I couldn't find any reference to it.

Then I look in the pricing section of the KMBS site and pagescope enterprise is not listed anymore. I know I looked at it earlier this year and it was there but I do realize that Konica Minolta just started supportineg Papercut which I personally prefer over PSES. I found a discontinued pricing section which does list pagescope enterprise.

So it does look like it is over for PSES. I am hoping it is true because I hate PSES.
