    C6500 Error codes C-2211 - C-2214

Anyone having problems with codes C2211 -C2214 on a C6500?

I know there were a dodgy batch of drums doing the rounds a few months ago that kept flipping cleaning blades thus causing these codes, but more recently I have seen these codes on some 10 machines that are only a few weeks old, I have tried various things; new drums/drum motors (depending on what code) new prcb etc but with no effect.

I have upgraded the firmware to V40 and have also tried the KM patch that is meant to cure these codes, again with no joy.

Has anyone any ideas/fixes for this?

The blades are flipping? Or the machine just comes up with a code? The customer has samples of massive colour mis-registration?

    Description
C-2211 (C2211), C-2212(C2212), C-2213 (C2213) or C-2214 (C2214)usually when the machine is running in thick paper mode (1/2 line speed).

    Solution
    PROBABLE CAUSES:
    1. Incorrect drum speed.
Please install attached version 30-GCA firmware (bizhub PRO C6500) or attached version 12-GCA (bizhub PRO C5500) to correct the drum speed.
After installing the firmware please set the following DipSW to the recommended setting:
    DipSW21
    bit 6 bit 7
    0 0 Default
    1 0 0.1% up
    0 1 0.2% up (Recommended)
    1 1 0.3% up
If the symptom recurs with the recommended value, try the 0.3% UP setting.

    2. Cleaning blade has "flipped" ona corresponding color.
Replace the respective drum cartridge. To prevent the recurrence of the blade flipping, be sure to apply setting powder onto the surface of the drum.

    3. Incorrect Belt Line Speed Adjustment setting.
Check the settingby referring to section10.3.8 Belt Line Speed Adj. (Printer Adjustment) in the Service Manual. If the setting value is not in the range between
-5 to -35, readjust the value within -5 to -35.If -5 to -35 cannot give the satisfactory result, also perform the section 10.3.3. FD Mag. Adjustment (Printer
    Adjustment).
    Notes :
    a. These are drum drive error codes; ensure that the problem is not drive-related.

i had the same problem with that batch of drums, what worked for me when the cleaning blade was flipped, take the springs that give pressure to the cleaning blade (on each side of the drum) and stretch them a little, put more setting powder and manually turn them, you should feel them turn smoother. I even started doing that at pm time with all drums. If the cleaning blade is not flipping and the code comes up when using thick paper there is a special version 30 firmware that helps that problem i believe is v30gca.
    good luck.

I have had postive results with stretching the springs. Pull them slowly and as soon as you can feel them stretch past their elastic limit, release them again. The should be about 0.5 - 1.0 mm longer. NOT MORE, they won't clean the drum effectively.

A local colleague applies setting powder twice over on new drums, and his blades don't flip even though he doesn't stretch the springs.

I like the idea about trimming the blade corners off, since the blades I have seen tend to flip only in one side, suggesting that it is the corner that starts the flip.

Got an email from our KM rep. They are working on Version 50 FW. Said it will take care of the codes.

Actually, the best experience has been with polishing the affected drums. Not with a regular "wax" since that is too soft, but a "resin" polish that leaves a hard smooth shell. Autoglym "Super Resin Polish", also known under the name "Radiant Wax".

In conjunction with moderately stretched springs, this works perfectly. No flipping blades and no problem with image quality.

    Hi
Try fitting 500 springs rotating the drums a couple of times before fitting using patting powder not a batch fault design error currently being sorted by KM with modded drum units

The problem is the polishing brush inside the drum unit. Try using the C500 brush until the modified drums are cut into production.
