    MJ-1101 Finisher Bypass/Cheater?

Has anyone ever made a MJ-1101 Bypass/Cheater? So the machine thinks there is a FN there when really there is not one?

I'm probably in over my head, but I test machines all day and just need to see if they pass paper. I have a communication harness from a MJ-1101 and was wondering if there would be a way to twist wires together to make it seem a OCT was connected. I have access to a MJ-1101 that I can use for parts.

I do not have access to the wiring diagram for this FN, so I'm kinda in the dark here. Was able to make a Bypass for Sharps and Xerox, but Toshiba seem to be some kind of handshake that needs to take place before the machine will print.

    Thanks for any information.

I'll be glad to share a wiring diagram, but for the base machine to come to Ready and think it has a finisher, it has to communicate with the finisher control board.

Most Toshibas are plug & play, so a much simpler solution is to Power Off, unplug the finisher, and power On. If your machine has an optional bridge you'll have to remove that too.

It's not like the old Mita or Canon days when you had to enter a hexadecimal code for the machine to recognize options. In those days if you removed a disfunctional option, the machine coded out because it couldn't find the option.

    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Thanks for the feedback. I get copiers in with no finishers sometimes and we dont keep finishers in stock, so if I don't have a FN it can't be tested. Well it was worth a try, maybe i can mount a FN board to ply-wood and with all the sensors to act like a FN, most FN we get are smashed up and dont stand upright, which is where i got the donation wire from.

I know it seems like a ton of work, but knowing the Machine works really increases the resale price.

    Thanks,

I guess I don't understand... with the finisher gone, you should be able to test the base machine as if it never had the option.

Do you want to know if the base machine can recognize a finisher? I see the logic to that. Even so, the regulating plates and stapler would have to be able to move out from home position then back, and the motors would have to pass a run test. You know, the usual finisher initialization. That would be a whole lot easier to achieve with a whole functioning finisher.
