Exclamation Z-Fold In Toshiba ES 255

    Hi friends!
We had a toshiba es255 on our one of the customer's. Fortunately they upgraded the machine to 3518A now.

When we had that es 255 the copies/prints coming from 2nd tray used to come as folded. We called that "Z" fold issue. Papers which are coming from 1st tray and bypass was fine. But the problem with 2nd tray. The paper used to set as SEF (A4-R). The fold occurred like 5cm from top of the paper.we tried LEF(A4) and A3 but the results were same. I quite wondering what could have possibly caused that problem now. Guys if had anything regarding this please share your opinions it would be a great help for us to overcome the issue if it occurs anymore.

We did all the following but it didn't worked out!

Changed the 2nd tray entire feeder unit.
    Replaced Registration clutch.
    Cleaned and lubricated reg roller.
    Checked out entire fuser unit.
    Checked all the sensors.

PS: There was no paper jamming occurred even though the output papers were quite folded. Please refer to the attached jpg.

Re: Z-Fold In Toshiba ES 255

I've had this issue on the e255 and e256 series machines. It almost always is worn guides on the transfer door. The usual culprit is the one just before the transfer roller, but there's also one lower down that can cause that problem, too. If you take them out you'll see how badly they get worn down by paper over time. The ribs will be gone and edges smoothed.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

"Checked out entire fuser unit." HOW did you check it out? just visually?

what is the GSM of the paper being used?
    matte or gloss?
what are your paper tray settings?

    more info needed.

Re: Z-Fold In Toshiba ES 255

    Two things:

    Registration sensor flags worn pointy.
Loop adjustment. Please look it up. Factory value is 16. A bulletin came out some years ago suggesting a value of 14, but use your own judgement. The higher the value the bigger the loop/buckle, and the greater the chance of a Z-fold. The lower the value, you'll start getting early image registration, skewing and E140, EB50 jams. You want the sweet spot in between.
    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
