Toshiba 5055c Ghosting

So I have a Toshiba 5055C, I am getting ghosting or double print on anything. Meaning a copy, print or even printing the font list.

I am not a hundred percent sure if this is a new drum or developer I need to replace or something else. I did go through an clean everything, the drum, the rollers, tooks some air an carefully blew out any excess toner. I also swapped a toner waster container with a new one just in case it was too full.

I figured I would check here before I start replacing the drum and developer in case it is something simple I am forgetting.

It certainly looks like a drum and blade issue to me. What does the PM count say for the black drum unit? Just from the pic, I'd say you could get away with replacing the drum and blade. We typically get over twice the life on the developer material.

Ok, that is what I was thinking. Honestly I think I am just going to replace both as the kit for the drum and blade has the developer for a fair price an I know it has been a year since I replaced the developer. We do print a lot from this thing, somewhere around 750,000 plus a year.

750,000+ prints in one year!!! That is the entire five year service life of the copier in one year!!! You need to upgrade to a e5516AC and put it on a short three year lease.

Just the savings from a much lower breakeven cpc will pay for the upgrade.

These fusers can fail in a similar fashion with the cq issues going edge to edge. The other half of me is leaning charge grid. If you want to know for sure do a "panic stop". Run the font list but open the right door BEFORE it gets into the fuser. If the lines are the there, its the drum, if not its fuser.

This looks like fuser or wrong toner to me. The fuser interval and drum interval are both about 95mm, so that doesn't differentiate.

So let me ask some questions:
If you do this same page in cyan, are your shadows cyan after a while? If yes, then it's the fuser. If the shadows stay black it may be wrong toner or drum cleaning.

So if it's fusing:
What kind of media are you using? If it's typical 75gsm and Plain paper setting, you may need a FR-KIT. If it's heavier paper and you're using a Plain paper setting, try using the correct media type.

So if it's drum cleaning:
You'll be able to pull the black drum unit and see streaks on the drum at any stage of printing.

So if it's developing:
If you put some paper over the table, pull the black developing unit and give it a hearty shake over the paper. If it dumps a bunch of loose toner onto the paper you've got a developing issue. Take a look at the manufacturer of the toner you're using.

That should narrow it down a bit. =^..^=
