Checked 08-2528 to 2531. All zeros. Checked 05-2731 all below 628. Set 08-2486 and 2561 to zero. Go in to 04 to print test pattern and it throws CE40. Checked developer and transfer belt springs. developer looks fine visually. Checked corona grids and charge scorotrons. Set 08-2528 back to 1. Ran a 05-2742 without error. Rebooted and got the CE40 again. Lost and need help.
When you get the error, pull out the primary transfer belt and look at the patches. The answer should be obvious. =^..^=

None, BC. Didn't pull belt until I tried to enter 04 mode per troubleshooting steps. Don't understand why it wouldn't go in to 04 mode, yet ran a successful 05-2742.Originally Posted by blackcat4866

Nothing on the belt
That would be a big problem. I'd say laser, for two reasons:
1) On digital machines laser writes the image areas.
2) Loss of primary charge would give you solid fill pages.
So you'll need to determine if the transfer belt is turning.
It's possible that the developer drive isn't turning, but that should include developer density errors.
It's possible that the drum drive isn't turning, but again that should record a code.
And the laser shutter might not be opening.
That's about as specific as I can be with those observations.
You will be able to see the drums and developers rotating through the front, with the front cover off.

Drums and developer rotating. Didn't check if transfer was rotating, my bad. Laser shutter worked in test mode. All that aside, I'm wondering why can't I get in to 04 mode and why I have a completed 05-2742.
I have an intact 5560 trade in. I'm going to take the process unit, transfer belt unit, Logic board and laser unit with me. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for your help.
I would go after the transfer belt first. Those were know for issues with the rear transfer roller blocks separating which would lead to a lack of transfer. There was a bulletin regarding this. You can check this without removing the belt from the belt unit itself. I've replaced as many a three on one transfer belt assy.
I've ran into the block problem several times. Super glued them and a layer of epoxy after. Works great. Always the black for me. Closer proximity to the fuser, Heat stress I guess. Not my problem
