4005AC + GD1370 + VoIp

Tech had an issue with a fax board connected to a 4505AC. Machine has been in place pretty much
since EBN came out. All of a sudden, it started showing on the TX log NO ISSUES. All transmissions
show "OK", but the customer (school) said the receiving end, sometimes inside their network, sometimes
outside, would receive the same document over and over again. Tech tried the obvious, blowing out the
fax settings, reflashing the fax rom, reseating connectors. We were convinced it was something within the ATA settings or on their
network. He spent time with their I.T. guy and they were at a loss. As a last resort, even though I thought it
was a wild shot, we popped a new GD1370 board into the machine and it fixed the issue!
I think it is the first time that I've had a fax board go bad, that wasn't a lightning hit
(and that was back when phone lines were still attached to "MaBell". )

Repeat receptions are a sign of poor phone line quality on the borderline between a failed transmission and poor image quality. If the sender identifies enough send errors it will send again. Sounds like VOIP to me. =^..^=

I agree. Protocol trace shows the entire transmission went perfectly. V.17 14.4k. EVERYTHING looked perfect. Only thing I can think
of is the old board impedance was just enough different that the ATA box just wasn't hearing something. We asked their I.T. guy if
he could pull something similar of a protocol trace and he looked at the tech like he said it in a foreign language. Asked if there
were any data logs on the ATA or server and he had no clue.
