C471 AFTER replacing the belt holder!

Any TABS techs still having C471 issues with the 85 series b&w/color machines?

I've had enough of this! I'm sure Toshiba will pull my post to their bulletin board, but I had to rant on
    there Friday morning.

Ok, we were told the belt holder is the issue. Well, we just got a fuser back, that had the belt holder
replaced after being in the field 3 days. C-471. Fuse is OPEN. All procedures were followed as to the
handling of the belt holder, oil, inserting the fuser belt etc. NO stress was placed on the belt holder
    what so ever.
WHEN will this be addressed? Dealers are spending a LOT of money trying to keep the 8508/18 machines
running, when the slower speed machines are NOT having as many failures. This machine has ALL software
and updates included. AC line checks good & is on a surge protector!

You wouldn't happen to mean 6506ACT/6516ACT/8508A/8518A MFP's, would you?

    Have a look at this:
    ES 7516AC error C471

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Man, I've tried every mod Toshiba has made, tried some of my own, still no go. Talked with ATSG guys out in CA,
DSM...nothing seems to help. Poor design...set some polices to try the fan speed and even lower fuser temperatures
    to see if that helps.

I made the policy changes on the ECC server for all of the machines for the fan speed.
I've got two "test mules" close to the office I use as guinea pigs for other things. I've
set those with the 08 codes for the fuser temperature. If I don't get any negative feedback,
I'm pushing it to the rest of our machines.
I'm sick of these c71 and other fuser issues with this series.
I jinxed it back when I went to the first school in Chicago on the EBN. When they showed us
the 5506/08 machine, we all said it looked like a 5540/60, but the op panel arm was removed.
I just had to taunt "Murphy" by saying fantastic! We won't have any problems with this machine!
Little did I know...the fuser was the major change and THAT was what we have all the issues with.

Thanks again for the codes. I'll keep you posted how they work out.

Toshiba have a new holder for the thermistor and different fuser oil. Pretty much all the C471 errors i get are repaired by replacing the thermistor, holder and applying new oil. Also Im sure there is a firmware that addresses this error code.

Re: C471 AFTER replacing the belt holder!

Here's what we've been doing, since around mid April...it has made a DRAMATIC decrease in ripped fusers, C471's.
Using Shin-Etsu oil instead of the stock oil, doubling the amount.
Installing all mods (obviously), setting the energy save to 30 minutes, super sleep to 60 minutes (most of these
we have are schools...they have a lot of idle time)
    Changing the following 08 codes

    08-2010-0 =9
    08-2010-2 =9
    08-2010-10=11
    08-2386 =2

This basically sets the fuser operating tempertures to that of the 5506/18 series. Most of our machines don't get
pushed volume wise. We've not had ANY calls for print rubbing off, under temp errors or "wait warming up" messages.
If we were to encounter that, I'd just increase the 08 codes for temperature, to that of the next speed faster machines.
The big test, for the oil evaporating, will come this fall, after the machines have pretty much sat idle all summer.
If we don't get a lot of ripped up fuser belts, the oil must be stable enough and not leak as bad as the stock oil.
On the plus side, given that oil from TABS is around 30-50 dollars a bottle, if you order it from them separately,
I'm sitting on about 4,000 dollars worth of oil! Time to load up the truck & to head to Beverly (Hills if you know the
tv show I'm talking about LOL)

Gee, guess what TABS wants us to do now?

Just noticed end of July, TBS released TSB-2016 and guess what they want us to do now?
LOWER the fuser temperatures of the 85/75 series high speed machines because they think
the operating temperature is too close to the pop temperature of the thermal fuse. YA THINK?

New 1600 firmware is suppose to have a bunch of other settings along with the ones blackcat
provided. So far, since we changed all of those settings in March, our service calls for 471's have
    DROPPED big time!
