It won't run without it. It's a teflon sheet, that has a special oil. If you leave it off (and I've seen it done) the fuser sleeve will last less than a week.

You'll notice in the kit a packet of screws? They are slightly larger that the original screws. The original screws tend to back out and let go of the teflon sheet. Then thats what you get.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    What the Cat said

Also, I would really read and re-read the instructions before rebuilding one of these - lots of little things to remove and lay out and not break and there is...a feel to refilling the oil. Search the forum, the console color box is very similar in design.

Use EVERY drop of the kit's oil and don't spill any or allow it to leak out during reassembly. With the hot roller and heating core out of it's holders and in your paws, it's quite fragile and you don't want to have to re-build one of these twice...

And make sure when you replace that pad, you get it in there EXACTLY straight, no bends or ripples. And make sure those
replacement screws are used and TIGHT.
