    Toshiba fuser parts

With the "supply chain" problems, 8508A & 8518A series fuser kits are sometimes hard to come by.
We we having trouble obtaining the 6LK42666000 FR-KIT-FC556-FU complete kit. We could get the
fuser belt kit, but couldn't get the entire kit. Well, I had our parts person check, and the separate
LOWER fuser roller, TABS had 31 of them in stock. So, I stocked up on Fuser belt kits & lower fuser
rollers. The only difference is the plastic pad that holds the wick.
So if you can't get the FU kit, just order the fuser belt kit & the lower fuser roller separately.

    Re: Toshiba fuser parts

The lady that does our parts ordering said that when she checked Monday morning (15th), it showed parts would be received
on the 19th (Friday), but she said don't look for them until after the first of December, with next week being a holiday for
most. Thursday/Friday and part of Wednesday. So shipping at the earliest would be Monday the 29th.

Well my FR-556 kits did not arrive today with most of the other stuff that did arrive. Checked Order Inquiry and it shows "Released". But, I've got DSDF rollers on order that have showed "Released" from an order placed back in September.

    Fuser core

I love how the "bosses" of Toshiba think. The outer shell of the fuser core (marked in red) is NOT available as a
part. When I inquired, I was told that the outer shell is "too fragile" to be made available. Ok, then if it is so
fragile, why are the other parts made available? To get to the thermistors or thermal fuse, you have to take that
shell off. Oh, wouldn't surprise me they don't make anything in that core available, forcing you to spend $$$ for
    something you don't really need.

Since using the Shin-Etsu oil, doubling the amount Toshiba says to use, we aren't having as many fuser failures,
due to the oil drying up (along with cutting the fuser temperature).

Understanding how the whole IH coil system works, the magnetic lines of flux, creating the eddie currents along
the entire area, I would think scratches to the surface of the outer shell, could potentially create a "hot spot"
similar to how a piece of fuzz would create a hot spot, on a corona wire. And, of course they tell you not to
scratch/scrub the outer shell of the core, for fear of bending/mishaping the core. So, the only course you have
is to replace an expensive core, or odrering a new fuser from TABS or a repaired one from Hytec. And that's almost
    impossible with "supply chain" issues.

I almost posted this in the rant section...

They defiantly need to relook at this design and do something else....

I got a machine down that needs a fuser...and it's a print shop..and he is already not happy with us...and we are waaaay in the red with it...
    *sigh*
    Hytec still shows late December

Well, so much for that! Our DSM said they had looked into it, and that outer shell is about 90% of the belt holder.
Sort of makes sense...if you see what happens when it wears down, it's all copper on the inside.

    Re: Toshiba fuser parts

Well at least is not like the Ricoh 6513's fusers...we had to have the floor stripped and refinished at a print shop once because even though I was careful as shit..leaked fuser oil all along the floor when i was carrying a hot one needing rebuild to the only place in the print shop where there was counter space. Sooo much oil and oil rollers and blades and you couldn't grip your tools for a week after.

Engineers man...they need percussive maintenance to the brain pan .
