    e4505AC E580

I have a 4505 jamming while duplexing. Only when I run color. I can run black and white all day. I ran a counter report and ran 50 copies black and white using them as 1-2 originals. Then went to mono color magenta with same originals. Get one maybe 2 before it jams. doesn't make any sense to me.

I had a 6540 once, that would run b&w just fine, but would run color and they would come out black.
Ended up being a bad memory stick.

Thanks rusty, I'll give that a shot. Had a bizhub where the memory was causing a problem that didn't make sense. Can't remeber what it was.

I've got two references to E580:

Misfeeds "E020, E580, E520" on duplex. The locking feature that retains the leaf springs for the reverse roller idlers breaks, leaving no pressure at the reverse rollers. Drill two #67 holes in the exit frame at each side of the leaf spring. Bend a staple shape of SPC, 9mm center, 7mm legs. Start the retainer, fit leaf spring, press the retainer down tightly, bend the ends to lock in the leaf spring. Take care not to break the inverter gate. See photos on file.

Misfeed "E580" doesn't clear. Fuser section fan 1 (F4) falls off onto the reverse sensor S26. Reinstall fuser section fan 1 (F4) fan blades.

    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I've never seen a tech that keeps meticulous notes like this. It's very impressive.

I reached memory capacity a long time ago. Everything else has to go into the database. =^..^=

    Yah for strange problems....

The only mechanical difference I can think of would be the first transfer rollers and the drum/dev units drive.

Could there be a developer unit locking up and dragging the system down?

What is the copy count ?

+1 on memory being iffy, pull it, clean it, reseat it and/or swap it with known good. Have seen the memory chip cause issues.

Thanks rusty. The memory was the problem.
